Pharmacy technicians-amendments.

A BILL

 

for

 

 1  AN ACT relating to the Wyoming Pharmacy Technician Act;
 2  modifying requirements imposed upon pharmacy technicians
 3  and technician supervision requirements as specified; and
 4  providing for an effective date.

 5 

 6  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

 7 

 8         Section 1.  W.S. 33-24-301(c), (d) and (e) is amended
 9  to read:

11         33-24-301.  Pharmacy technicians; licensing;
12  definitions; revocation or suspension of license; letter of
13  admonition.

15         (c)  A pharmacy technician shall not perform pharmacy
16  functions or be present in the prescription department

 1  unless under the direct supervision of a licensed
 2  pharmacist.

 3 

 4         (d)  A licensed pharmacist shall be jointly
 5  responsible and liable for the actions of a pharmacy
 6  technician when direct supervision is required. A licensed
 7  pharmacist shall directly supervise no more than two (2)
 8  pharmacy technicians at any time.

 9 

10         (e)  A pharmacy technician shall register and pay a
11  fee to be licensed by the board before performing any
12  pharmacy functions. The applicant shall provide relevant
13  information pertaining to criminal, substance abuse,
14  professional liability and licensure or certification
15  history. A pharmacy technician license shall be renewed
16  annually upon payment of the required renewal fee and upon
17  providing information required by rule and regulation of
18  the board.

20         Section 2.  This act is effective July 1, 2001.
