Management Council Meeting Summary (October 8, 2002)

The Management Council met on October 8, 2002 at Pahaska Teepee Lodge in Cody.  The Council received an update on the status of school finance studies required by 2002 legislation, as well as on the transition process for school capital construction.  The Council viewed the new videotape explaining the state’s budget process and elected to send courtesy copies of the tape to all high schools, community colleges, the University, county libraries, and new and returning legislators.  The Council assigned the responsibility for program elimination review to the Joint Appropriations Committee.   

 

The Council set dates for the New Legislators’ School sessions, assigned legislative faculty to teach the sessions, and approved reimbursement levels for new members attending the school.  The Council voted to develop a logo for the Wyoming Legislature as part of efforts to promote the legislative institution.  The Council approved an increase in session staff salaries and adopted policies for LSO employees on family and medial leave and for the Legislature regarding anti-discrimination and sexual harassment.  The Council expressed its desire to maintain the Capitol Historic Preservation Foundation.  The Council also decided to send a letter to the Joint Appropriations Committee encouraging them to undertake the employee benefit study as soon as possible.  The Council will meet again on December 2, 2002 in Cheyenne.
