Select Water Committee Meeting Summary (May 30, 2002)

The Select Water Committee met on May 30, 2002 in Cheyenne.  The Committee met jointly with the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC) and the director of the WWDC reviewed the roles and responsibilities of each entity.  The Committee reviewed and approved 11 project contract amendments and 33 planning division contract documents.  The WWDC approved the contract for the funding of the University of Wyoming Office of Water Research for two years.  WWDC staff explained the small water-project program and provided a summary of the pilot studies.  The purpose of the program is to manage rangelands for wildlife and livestock and to improve riparian areas.  The Committee approved small water pilot projects on the Yellowstone River and Green River Basins.  The Committee will meet again on August 15 and 16, 2002 and the meeting will include a tour of the High Savery project.
