Select Water Committee Meeting Summary (August 16, 2002)

The Select Water Committee toured High Savery Dam on August 15, 2002 and met on August 16, 2002 in Saratoga.  The Committee met jointly with the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC).  The WWDC director presented information on the financial status of the Water Development Accounts I and II.  The WWDC director also shared information with the Committee about contracts and contract amendments for Commission approval, which did not require action by the Select Committee. 

 

The Committee and WWDC received testimony from the state climatologist regarding current and historical drought information.  The Committee and the WWDC discussed water development program criteria and requested that the issues of instream flow and water metering be included in the program criteria.  The entities received information regarding proposed changes to the groundwater grant program rules.  The Committee and WWDC also received an update on the financial status of the Buffalo Bill Dam expansion project and the small water-project program.  The Committee will meet again on November 14, 2002 in Casper.
