Joint Agriculture Committee Meeting Summary (April 29-30, 2004)

The Joint Agriculture, Public Lands and Water Resources Interim Committee met on April 29 and 30, 2004 in Sheridan.  The Committee received information concerning a number of agriculture issues including:  the Anthropod-Borne Animal Disease Research Laboratory; electronic permitting, small water impoundments and coal bed methane issues; predators; self-funded trust for management of state lands; state land use management direction for federal lands; health of watersheds; and private property access issues. 

 

The Committee was given updates on diseases affecting Wyoming’s livestock and wildlife and on the Emergency Insect Management Program.  The Committee will meet again September 16 and 17, 2004 in Evanston to consider bills related to:  licensing of livestock dealers; control of Brucellosis; mandatory depopulation relating to quarantines; duty to report diseases; agriculture premise and animal identification; electronic permitting; water resources library; self funding for state lands; and Wyoming guidelines for federal lands.
