Chairman Geis called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m., followed by an introduction of members and guests. The order of the meeting generally followed the prepared agenda [Appendix 2].
The minutes from the November meeting were discussed. Senator Vasey moved to approve the minutes from the November 9, 2005 meeting. The motion was seconded by Auditor Maxfield and passed.
Director Boomgaarden provided a brief summary of the previous two meetings and an overview of the agenda for this meeting.
The report from the Task Force is due to the Joint Agriculture, Public Lands and Water Resources Interim Committee by June 1, 2006 and any recommendations from the Task Force are due September 1, 2006 to the Joint Agriculture, Public Lands and Water Resources Interim Committee.
Director Boomgaarden provided a summary of legislative activities including SF018 and HB155 and updated the Task Force on the FY 07/08 budget for the Office of State Lands and Investments (OSLI) [Appendices 3 and 4].
The Task Force discussed various issues, including the need to evaluate the OSLI on a regular periodic basis, the need to educate the public regarding the role of state lands, the various uses of state lands, the need to set short term and long term goals, the available budget for OSLI, the need for additional personnel, computer support, short term and long term space requirements and other tools necessary to get the OSLI to the level it needs to be to adequately protect the trust assets [Appendices 5 through 13].
The Task Force discussed items to be included in the report, including, structure, content and format [Appendix 14].
The Task Force set the following meetings:

June 19, 2006 at 8:30 a.m. in Room 1699, Herschler Building, Cheyenne, Wyoming.
