Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        This bill redefines and limits which deaths are "coroner cases".

 

·        To be a coroner case the death must have been unanticipated (subject to an exception for deaths of inmates and deaths at other state institutions); and must meet other statutory criteria.

 

·        An "anticipated death" is defined to mean the individual had been diagnosed by a physician as having an illness likely to result in death.
