Subject:  Provides for the payment for the sale of cattle or domestic bison infected with or exposed to brucellosis (bangs disease).

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Provides for the payment for the sale of cattle or domestic bison infected with or exposed to brucellosis (bangs disease), if the sale is required by the state.

 

·        Amends the payment provision for the sale of livestock affected with tuberculosis.

 

·        Provides for brucellosis testing at the ranch of origin or at the sale barn in the event of a brucellosis outbreak, and to be imposed if there is a threat to Wyoming's brucellosis free status or if Wyoming is designated as brucellosis class A or lower.

 

·        Allows a brand inspector to withhold a brand inspection if the required brucellosis test has not been done.

 

·        Allows the state veterinarian to require brucellosis testing at a livestock market at any time as part of the brucellosis surveillance and prevention program.

 

·        Provides for punishment for violations.
