Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Old law listed all wars/conflicts for which veterans were entitled to a property tax exemption if they served in those conflicts.

 

·        New law merely states that service in any war/conflict qualifies for the property tax exemption if the person was awarded the armed forces expeditionary medal or other authorized service or campaign medal indicating service for the U.S. in any armed conflict in a foreign country.

 

·        Report required – Requires the department of revenue to report to the joint transportation interim committee by September 1, 2005 on the amount of money exempted and the breakdown of the exemptions between veterans and widows.
