Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Current law requires the department of health to license health care facilities, including assisted living facilities.

 

·        Regulations of the department prohibit assisted living facilities from having secured units, which are necessary for memory-impaired patients.

 

·        This act authorizes assisted living facilities to have secured units to care for patients with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia conditions.
