Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        This bill updates barber certification requirements by clarifying requirements, providing for recognition of certification from another state if the other state requires a board examination and providing for temporary certification for barbers certified through a state that does not require an examination until the time of the next examination in this state.

 

·        The bill updates licensing requirements for barbershops and barber schools by repealing current statutes specific to barber schools and consolidating them with the statutes requiring licenses for barbershops.

 

·        The bill extends the restoration period for expired certifications and clarifies revocation, denial and suspension provisions for certificates and licenses.
