Catch Title:       Open meetings laws.

 

Subject:  Violation of the open meetings act.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        This bill:

 

·        Imposes a misdemeanor penalty of not more than $750.00 upon:

 

·        Any member of a  governmental agency who knowingly and willfully violates, or conspires to violate, the open meetings act;

 

·        Any member of a governing body of an agency who attends or remains at a meeting where an action is taken in violation of this act, unless minutes of the meeting recording the member's objections are made public, or the member objects at the next regular public meeting;

 

·        Provides that a Title 6 (Crimes and Offenses) violation supercedes a violation of the open meetings law;

 

·        Requires maintaining minutes of executive sessions which shall remain confidential and produced only upon a court order, except for a member's objections to the meeting which shall be public;

 

·        Conforms references to the open meetings law to include W.S. 16-4-408, created by this act.
