Subject: Provides tuition free post-secondary education for specified dependents of firefighters who die in the line of duty.
Summary/Major Elements:
· This bill
· Provides tuition free post-secondary education for dependents of paid or volunteer firefighters who die in the line of duty in the service of a Wyoming fire department;
· Specifies the tuition free education may be for up to 6 semesters at a community college, up to 10 semesters at the University of Wyoming or a combined 10 semesters at a community college and the University;
· Requires the surviving dependent of the deceased firefighter to be under age 22 at the time of the death of the firefighter parent to be eligible for the tuition free education;
· Requires the state fire marshal to determine the eligibility of any dependent of a firefighter who died in the line of duty and provide the eligibility information to the University and each community college.
