Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        After January 5, 2009 legislators will receive mileage reimbursement for one trip home per week during legislative session.

 

·        The bill allows legislators to receive a full day statutory salary for two days each month the legislature is not in session (four for chairmen and floor leaders, six for the speaker and president).

 

·        The bill also allows one half day statutory salary for each day of preparation for legislative duties and one half day statutory salary for each day the legislator travels to or returns from interim activities.

 

Comments:

 

· Contains delayed effective date – The bill is effective January 5, 2009 so that it cannot increase the salary for any legislator serving in the fifty-eighth legislature.
