Subject:  Amends requirements for publication of municipal ordinances for cities and towns.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Ordinances must be published in a newspaper of general circulation before becoming effective.  This amendment specifies that the newspaper must be one that maintains a physical office that takes advertisement requests during regular business hours.

 

·        The newspaper must be located within the boundaries of the city or town.

 

·        Provides for an exception for ordinances adopted prior to the date of this act, allowing those ordinances that were posted for ten (10) days in the city clerk's office to be deemed as in compliance with the requirements.
