Summary/Major Elements:

·        This Bill:

·        Creates a Joint Legislative Executive Committee consisting of 11 members to review of the Department of Health's budget and fiscal policies;

·        Provides legislative findings that the Department of Health's budget has increased significantly in the last few bienniums, particularly in the area of health care;

·        Appropriates $75,000.00 to fund the study;

·        Specifies duties of the Committee to include an analysis of the fiscal, budget and management policies of the Department and an in-depth analysis of the Medicaid Program, its structure and its policies;

·        Provides that Legislative Service Office  shall staff the Committee;

·        Requires a report to the Joint Appropriations and Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Interim Committees by September 1, 2005.
