Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        The requirement that firefighters be under thirty-three (33) years of age is removed.

 

·        Allows for local fire commissions to establish a higher proficiency requirement for employment.

 

·        Provides for fire department applicants to remain on employment registers for two (2) years unless the hiring authority chooses a one (1) year register.

 

·        Allows for the fire department civil service commission to give five (5) instead of three (3) eligible names for employment with fire departments.
