Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Provides $53,000 from the school foundation account for expansion of the Wyoming teacher of the year program effective school year 2005-2006;

 

·        Funds the Wyoming Teacher Policy Institute at $100,000 from the school foundation account for school year 2005-2006;

 

·        Appropriates $182,000 from the school foundation account for augmenting funds available for teacher participation in national certification, with a requirement that the department of education report expenditures to the joint education committee;

 

·        Supplements the department of education's budget by $400,000 in school foundation account monies to pilot teacher advancement programs providing incentives and support during school year 2005-2006:

·         

o       Requires the department to establish a qualification and selection process for program participation;

o       Requires nonstate matching funds; and

o       Requires the department to report on program expenditures to the joint education committee.
