Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Authorizes school districts to expend up to 10% of total annual major maintenance payments for maintenance needs of the district which are not specified within the district's five year facility plan, including the maintenance of enhancements to its facilities;

 

·        Conditions the expanded expenditure upon satisfaction of expenditure levels to maintain facility adequacy as identified within the district's facility plan and upon approval of the School Facility Commission;

 

·        Requires districts to report expanded expenditures within its annual major maintenance expenditure report to the Commission and reduces subsequent major maintenance payments for any district expenditure in excess of the 10% allowance or portion of any unmet expenditure level for facility adequacy needs.
