Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Under current law the gasoline tax distribution to the snowmobile trails program uses a formula based on presumed usage of gasoline by snowmobiles.

 

·        The bill modifies the distribution by changing part of the formula to a factor of the gasoline tax rate multiplied by the number of gallons of gasoline reported to be used by commercial snowmobiles.  (That part of the formula for noncommercial snowmobiles continues to be based upon an estimated usage amount.)

 

·        Requires commercial snowmobile rental businesses to report to the department of revenue the number of gallons of gasoline used.
