Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        The on-line government commission was created in 1999 to consist of the five state elected officials.

 

·        The commission was charged with adopting rules and generally overseeing that to the extent transactions with state government were done electronically they would be done in a uniform manner (in compliance with the commission rules).

 

·        The commission has not been active.  This bill repeals the commission and transfers its duties to the state chief information officer.

 

·        The state chief information officer has not been created in statute (the position and duties have been stated in past budget bills).  This bill establishes that position in statute within the governor's office.
