Catch Title:       Beer keg registration.

 

Subject: This bill provides standards for identifying beer kegs.  

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·         Defines "beer keg" to mean any brewery sealed, single container that contains not less than seven (7) gallons of malt beverage.

 

·         Licensees shall affix an identification label or tag directly to each beer keg they sell.  The identification label or tag is to be provided by the commission.

 

·         The identification label or tag shall include the licensee's name, address and telephone number, a unique beer keg number assigned by the licensee and a visible warning that intentional removal or alteration of the label or tag is a criminal offense.

 

·         Upon return of a beer keg the licensee is required to remove the identification label or tag and keep it on file for not less than ninety (90) days.

 

·         A licensee at the time of selling any beer keg is required to record authorized types of identification.  They must also record the date and time of purchase, the beer keg identification number, and the purchaser's signature.

 

·         A person who is required to record information shall not knowingly make a materially false entry, subject to misdemeanor penalties.

 

·         Any person who removes or alters an identification tag or label, other than the licensee, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
