Catch Title:       Unreimbursed medical trauma care services.

 

Subject:  Extends the payment program to hospitals for unreimbursed trauma care and expands unreimbursed trauma care services eligible for reimbursement to include ambulance services.

 

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        This Bill:

·        Extends the payment program to hospitals for unreimbursed trauma care created by 2005 Session Laws, Chap. 160;

·        Expands unreimbursed trauma care services eligible for reimbursement to include ambulance services;

·        Specifies requirements to be eligible for reimbursement under the program;

·        Specifies that reimbursement shall be for costs incurred after June 30, 2006 and before July 1, 2007;

·        Requires the Department of Health to promulgate rules to administer the program;

·        Limits the reimbursement to any one hospital or ambulance service to not more than 25% of the appropriation under the act, except reimbursement may exceed the 25% limit on a pro rata basis if the Department of Health reasonably concludes that the appropriation under the act will not be fully expended by June 30, 2007;

·        Provides that the funds appropriated under 2005 Session Laws, Chap. 160 shall not lapse June 30, 2006, but shall remain available under the program until June 30, 2007, subject to other requirements of the act for eligible reimbursement payments.
