Catch Title:       Coroner requirements.

 

Subject:  Amends statutes relating to coroners.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Gives authority for coroners of another county to perform the duties of another county's coroner pursuant to a joint powers agreement.

 

·        Provides for board of coroner standards members who are not otherwise compensated to have their expenses paid when attending board meetings.

 

·        Requires the board of coroner standards to meet at least biannually and to review educational and training requirements for coroner basic and continuing education annually.

 

·        Allows the board to contact the attorney general to initiate an action to remove any coroner not in compliance with W.S. 7-4-103. W.S. 7-4-103 requires all elected coroners to become certified with in one (1) year of taking office and if the coroner is not in compliance while in office he can be charged with a misdemeanor.

 

·        Requires the director of the Wyoming law enforcement academy to provide a basic coroner course of at least forty (40) hours.

 

·        Provides an appropriation from the general fund to the office of the attorney general for payments to the board of coroners.
