Catch Title: Child support-income withholding amendments.

Subject: Costs of mailing income withholding notices.

Summary/Major Elements:

· Under current law, the obligee (the person entitled to receive the child support) is responsible for the cost of mailing an income withholding order to the obligor's employer.

· This bill eliminates the obligee's statutory responsibility for paying the cost of mailing the income withholding order. The costs of mailing the notice would be borne by the department of family services if the department is involved in the action. Otherwise, the court will decide the responsibility for payment of the mailing costs.
