Summary/Major Elements:

· Limits charter school application filings with local school board to once within any twelve month period beginning on the date when the denied application was originally filed;

· Clarifies the application review process by specifically requiring a school board to notify a charter school applicant of application denial within forty-five days following the date of its decision to deny, and by extending the time limit imposed upon an applicant to provide notice of appeal from thirty to forty-five days following receipt of the board's decision for denial;

· Extends charter school renewal for successive five-year periods.  Prior law limited charter schools to one five-year renewal.
