Summary/Major Elements:

 

·         The act creates a film industry financial incentives program.

 

·         Under the program, the business council may contract with filmmakers to provide reimbursement of up to fifteen percent of the production's qualified expenditures if at least five hundred thousand dollars in qualified expenditures are made.

 

·         The act requires any contract under the program include consideration to the state, including but not limited to, providing a storyline set in Wyoming, providing additional Wyoming behind the scenes footage, using Wyoming props and product placement and providing a clear statement in the credits that the production was filmed in Wyoming.

 

·         The act provides a one million dollar appropriation for the program.

 

Comments:

 

·  Creates major program – Film Industry Financial Incentive Program.

·         Requires the business council include in its annual report a report on the program.

·         Requires the council to report to the joint travel, recreation, wildlife and cultural resources interim committee and the joint appropriations interim committee by October 1 each year.

·  Creates a sunset date for the program of June 30, 2011.
