Catch Title:       Teacher shortage loan repayment program.

Summary/Major Elements:

· Currently in statute, the Wyoming teacher shortage loan repayment program is to be administered by the Wyoming Higher Education Assistance Authority. In reality, the Wyoming Higher Education Assistance Authority is not a functioning entity and administration of the loan repayment program has fallen to the Community College Commission. This bill amends the statutes to give the Commission authority to administer the program.

· Amends the subjects a person can teach to be eligible under the program to include foreign languages with the preexisting disciplines of special education, math and science.

· Appropriates $75,600 to the Commission to further the purposes of this act, while limiting administrative expenditures to five percent of the appropriation.
