Summary/Major Elements:

· The act makes it a felony to permanently disable or inflict death upon a police dog, police horse, search and rescue dog or fire dog.  The felony is punishable by not more than ten years imprisonment, a fine of not more than ten thousand dollars, or both.

· The act expands the definitions of police dog, police horse and search and rescue dog to include those animals used by corrections facilities.
