Subject:  Authorizes the peace officers standards and training commission to establish standards for employment of dispatchers.

Summary/Major Elements:

· This act:

· Authorizes the peace officers standards and training (POST) commission to establish standards for employment of dispatchers, including:

· Minimum recruitment, appointment or retention qualifications; and

· Certification standards;

· Prohibits sheriffs, mayors, municipalities, state agencies or other persons authorized by law to employ dispatchers from employing any person who does not meet the employment standards established by POST;

· Provides that any person convicted of a felony:

· After being hired as a dispatcher, is ineligible for continued employment as a dispatcher;

· Shall have his certification as a dispatcher revoked on the date of his conviction;

· Shall, along with his employer, be notified by the POST Director of the revocation of his certification.
