Subject:  Amends transfer requirements for vehicles upon death of a joint tenant.

Summary/Major Elements:  This act:

· Authorizes issuance of a new vehicle title, following the death of one of the vehicle's joint tenants with right of survivorship, in the name(s) of the surviving joint tenant(s) upon presentation of the death certificate to the county clerk;

· Provides that no sales or use tax shall be due upon transfer to the surviving joint tenant or tenants;

· Authorizes issuance of a new vehicle title, following the death of one of the vehicle's joint tenants with right of survivorship, in the name of a transferee who was not a joint tenant upon presentation of the death certificate to the county clerk;

· Provides that any applicable sales or use tax shall be due upon transfer to a transferee who was not a surviving joint tenant.
