Catch Title:       School buses and zones-violations.

Subject:  Amends penalties for school bus and school zone traffic violations.

Summary/Major Elements:  Current law establishes a 20 MPH speed limit when passing a school building, school grounds or school crossing.  This act:

· Provides that the school speed limit also applies in any area in the vicinity of a school that is designated by an official traffic control device as a school zone with a reduced speed limit;

· Increases the minimum fines for exceeding a school speed limit by more than 10 MPH from $100 to $200 for a first offense and from $200 to $400 for subsequent offenses within one year.
