Catch Title: Pharmacy act amendments.
Subject: Miscellaneous amendments to Wyoming Pharmacy Act.
Summary/Major Elements: This act enacts numerous amendments to the Wyoming Pharmacy Act, including:
· In the definition of "unprofessional conduct," specifying prohibited variations from the prescription and prohibiting employment of an unlicensed pharmacy technician;
· Increasing the membership of the state board of pharmacy from three to seven voting members (four pharmacists, one physician, one dentist or veterinarian, one member of the public) and one ex officio pharmacy technician and specifying eligibility requirements of each;
· Providing a $1,000 license fee for drug distributors;
· Revising and restating pharmacist license application requirements, including a criminal background check;
· Authorizing and providing grounds for summary pharmacist license suspension;
· Revising and restating requirements for reciprocal licensing of a pharmacist licensed in another state, including a criminal background check;
· Establishing application requirements for pharmacy intern applicants who graduated from a foreign pharmacy school;
· Providing grounds for discipline of pharmacy interns;
· Providing notice requirements prior to adverse licensing action against a nonresident pharmacy;
· Revising licensing requirements for and authorizing adverse licensing action against drug distributors;
· Authorizing and providing grounds and procedures for orders to cease distribution of a prescription drug and for imposition of administrative penalties against drug distributors;
· Authorizing mechanical dispensing by telepharmacies;
· Authorizing administrative penalties and amending grounds for adverse licensing action against pharmacy technicians.
