Summary/Major Elements:
- Creates the Wyoming conservation corps at the University of Wyoming. Participating students may be high school, community college or UW
students who will receive stipends and educational financial awards for
their service.
- Provides for a matching grant program with every $1.00 of state
funds matched by $2.00 from contractors.
- Anticipates the Wyoming conservation corps will be self
sustaining by the end of summer 2009.
- Provides an appropriation of $312,000 from the general fund,
separate from the University's block grant. Of this amount $72,000 may be
used for administrative costs ($36,000 in each fiscal year, all subject to
the matching funds requirement noted above).
Comments:
- Report Required - The University of Wyoming shall report to the Joint Minerals, Business and Economic Development
Interim Committee and the Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural
Resources Interim Committee on October 1, 2007 and October 1, 2008.
