Summary/Major Elements:

· Provides reimbursement payments to school districts employing teachers holding national board certification;

· Limits reimbursements to districts verifying lump sum payments of $4,000 to each national board certified teacher between December 1 and December 31 of any school year;

· Requires the department of education to distribute payments to qualifying districts on or before February 15 of applicable school year;

· Directs department to report by December 31 of each year to the joint education interim committee on estimated distributions for the applicable school year;

· Formally codifies 2006 Laws, Chapter 37, Section 5, which appropriated funds to the department for district reimbursement payments for national board certified teachers during the 2007-2008 biennium.
