Catch Title:       Highway construction contract threshold.

Subject:  Amends the minimum contract amount requiring public notice and bidding procedures.

Summary/Major Elements:  Current law specifies the threshold amount for road and highway construction contracts that require specified contract letting procedures.  This act:

· Doubles the state highway construction threshold amount from $100,000 to $200,000;

· Doubles the county highway construction threshold amount from $25,000 to $50,000;

· Doubles the value of small projects that may be constructed by department of transportation staff without contracting with private contractors from $20,000 to $40,000.

· Doubles the amount under which contracts for emergency expenditures for bridges and roadways may be let without competitive bidding from $500,000 to $1,000,000.
