Catch Title:       Wyoming Dental Practice Act.

 

Subject:  Miscellaneous amendments to the Wyoming Dental Practice Act.

 

Summary/Major Elements:  This act:

 

·         Provides personal civil immunity to members, agents and employees of the Board of Dental Examiners, and to members of any professional review committee, investigators and witnesses appearing before the Board, for actions taken in good faith without malice;

·         Authorizes the dental hygienist member of the Board to be a full voting member;

·         Authorizes a temporary educator's license for dentists or  hygienists who have applied for licensure and are admitted in another state;

·         Authorizes salary the same as state legislators and actual expenses for Board members while performing official duties;

·         Clarifies and updates education and application requirements for dentist and dental hygienist initial and renewal licensure;

·         Adds reprimand, restriction or imposition of conditions as possible adverse licensure actions by the Board;

·         Expands the grounds for adverse licensure action to include unfitness or incompetence to practice for any reason, including mental or physical disability, substance abuse, substandard practice, professional discipline in another jurisdiction and fraud, deceit or misrepresentation in providing information to the Board;

·         Authorizes the Board to promulgate rules regarding dental hygienist licensure;

·         Removes a requirement that the Secretary of State publish a list of licensed dentists and requires the Board to do so instead;

·         Removes the mandatory hearing requirement for relicensure of a dentist or dental hygienist who has not been in active practice for five years.
