· Under prior law, there was some ambiguity whether or not mandatory insurance requirements applied to vehicles that were newly purchased and not yet registered.

· This act resolves the ambiguity by requiring liability insurance coverage on every vehicle "currently" required to be registered "or which is required to be registered within a period of time."
