Subject:  Taxation – valuation of vacant land

Summary/Major Elements:

· Provides that for vacant land within a platted subdivision, upon request of the property owner, the county assessor shall consider the value of the property through the present worth appraisal methodology.

· Prior to the enactment of this bill, vacant land was valued as provided under W.S. 39-13-103(b)(ii) by using generally accepted appraisal methods with no requirement to use any specific appraisal methodology.

Comments:

· Applies to property tax assessed on or after January 1, 2010.
