Catch Title:       Gold star license plates.

Subject:  Specialty license plates.

Summary/Major Elements:

· This legislation creates a new type of specialty license plate for the relatives of soldiers who die during military service.

· The statute is modeled after the University of Wyoming license plate statute.

· All registration requirements are applicable.

· The new plates are subject to WyDOT's 2017 revision of all license plates.

· If 2010 HB27 is enacted into law (assigning armed forces license plates fees to the Wyoming veteran's commission), the veteran's commission will be required to provide $3,000 of funding to cover the costs of the gold star license plate.

· The Wyoming Veterans' Commission accepts applications for the plate and determines eligibility.

Comments:

· WyDot is required to report to the joint transportations, highways and military affairs committee by October 1^st of every year regarding the actions taken and monies expended under this legislation.

· The act is effective January 1, 2011.
