Summary/Major Elements:

· Under current law several, but not all, state parks and historic sites are defined in statute by legal descriptions.  Over time, those legal descriptions have not always been updated to correctly reflect the areas managed as a state park or historic site.

· The act removes the legal descriptions from statute and gives the department of state parks and cultural resources authority to set the boundaries through rule and regulation.

· The act also designates in statute every state park, historic site, archeological site and state recreation area as those lands managed by the department in that capacity as of July 1, 2010.
