Subject:  Provides the date when special assessments by a water conservancy district may be imposed and are due.

Summary/Major Elements:

· Current law requires a county to assess the operating and maintenance charges for the upcoming year for any water conservancy district on or before the third Monday in July.

· Process has been cumbersome and expensive for some counties.

· Bill provides option for a water conservancy district to do its own billing and collection of special assessments, operating and maintenance charges. 

· The district may do so after the third Monday in July or before the third Monday in October.

· This allows for a district to more accurately predict how much water will be available for use within the district.
