Subject:  Designation of areas in the state as rare or uncommon by the environmental quality council.

Summary/Major Elements:

● This act eliminates the authority of the environmental quality council to designate lands as "very rare" or "uncommon" under the Environmental Quality Act. (Designation of areas as rare or uncommon restricted mining permits if operation would irreparably harm, destroy, or materially impair any area that had been designated as rare or uncommon.)

● Lands designated prior to July 1, 2011 retain the designation until removed by the council.  The council retains the authority to remove such a designation.
